What's the fruit of an almond and/or cashew?
For some reason, Jamaicans tend to put almond trees around swimming pools, so it's pretty easy for kids to get their hands on recently fallen fruit, especially ones that never hit the ground. It's a fibrous fruit, and very sour. We eat them and throw the nuts away.
Cashew fruit I've had much less often. My mother pointed out a tree as we were going to a Girl Guide event. It's a pear-shaped light green fruit, and the cashew dangles from the bottom of it. The flesh is a bit sour and astringent, and juicy.
Now I have to wikipedia them both.
Cashew fruit. Unripe almond. When ripe they're yellow with some orange.
Hmm. From looking at other pictures, maybe we have an almond variant in Jamaica. Ours don't split open on the tree. We also have a tendency to randomly name stuff.
You know how sometimes the implications of physics are unsettling to our perceived nature of the universe?
Cool Clouds Turn Light to Matter
A fleeting pulse of light has been captured and then made to reappear in a different location by US physicists.
Ahhh, the BBC news never fails me.
Scotland - there's always a murder or attack, usually by knife.
Ireland - Scandal, Sinn Fein, IRA, Political Intrigue.
Wales - It's snowing! We're building a new train line!
WTF? Why is it so dead today?
Do I need to take roll call?
Well, yeah, about the colloqualisms, but most of the ones I know are harsh and ugly...
Hec, I'm here...not much to say. But I'm saying it.
Hec Esterhaus...I like it.
We need a controversial topic.
Or you could do the COMM quiz, again.
I'm here...not much to say. But I'm saying it.
I'm *not* here and I'm saying it!
(No, really, I'm writing an exam for my students! For the class I'm the lecturer. Writing an exam on my own, without anybody to override me and supervise and tell me what I did wrong. And that's not stressing me at all, nope, no sir).
I'm here. I shouldn't be, I should be studying or grading, but I'm sick, so I'm here.
