Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Awww....

THOMASVILLE, Ga. -- A Georgia woman bloodied in a car wreck says she owes her life to a German shepherd who--thankfully--just wouldn't stay in his yard.

Shannon Lorio says that after her car careered down an embankment, the wayward dog found her bruised and battered on the vehicle's trunk, dragged her about 50 yards through briars to a highway and let her lean against him so she could flag down a passing motorist.

His new name: Hero.

"That dog is always going to have a special place in my heart," Lorio said Friday. "He's my hero."

His previous owners signed him over to the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society after the Jan. 26 accident because he kept wandering off.

He won't be in the shelter long. At least 50 people offered to adopt him.

Lorio, 36, of Pavo said she can't adopt Hero because she already has six dogs, but she's showered him with gifts.

"If he ever needs anything, I'll be there," she said.

Dog trainer Heidy Drawdy of Thomasville will take Hero to see if he's cut out to be a search and rescue dog.

First item on the agenda for the wandering canine: obedience training.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

G just left for the airport. His business trips seem to inspire mixed feelings in me. On the one hand, I miss him when he's away and the house can seem too quiet. On the other hand, I can do what I like without worrying about bothering him. Sigh...

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Awesome good doggie!

Apparently he's been busy - this article from the local paper reports rumors of him having rescued a family from a burning home a week earlier.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

ARGH! In going through the week's mail, I discovered that someone has been using my Macy's card again. MotherFUCKERS. I'm just going to cancel the card, since I never use it. What kills me is, I never get a bill, just the letter from the collection agency saying "I"'m four months late. ISTG.

ION, how late do you think I have to wait until it's safe to go to Target? 3pm?

Also, will the place I did consulting for send me a tax form, or is that on me? I know how much I billed them for, so theoretically I could file today, but if they're sending me something, I'll wait for it.

They should send you a 1099, but some small companies never get around to it. They've got until Feb. 28.

Oh, bummer -- I thought they only had through January.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The last place I did freelance work for never sent me anything. I just filed without it.

Hello, Natterers. It is 23degreesF here, and the wind feels much much much colder. Having fetched sustenance from the grocery (where one woman stared at me as if she'd never seen a human before, and I don't know why) I'm staying inside until I'm forced out in the morning by that "having to work" thing. I long for spring.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

W-2s have to be delivered by 2/1.

But I don't think it's the location - I think winters in this region have gotten seriously milder/less snowy than twenty or so years ago. And it's kind of sad and freaky.

Actually, the 1970s/early 1980s was an abnormally cold and snowy period in the overal history of Midwest weather, as recorded since the mid-1800s. But, since that's what I grew up with, I keep on thinking that that is normal, and what we get now is strange.

The local news channel has that banner on the bottom of the screen stating the time and temp, and it is now "12:33, 00 [degrees]." Brrrrr!!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Interesting Kathy, I hadn't heard that.
