Mac is adorable.
I am happy to report that I had a deep-fried twinkie last night (well, a bite of a deep-fried twinkie) thanks to Meara. It was actually quite yummy, but then fried+powdered sugar+strawberry sauce usually is. Meara was as awesome as always and I am proud to have had dinner with her in two cities!
Where does the strawberry sauce come in? Do they cover the twinkie in it after it's fried? Or inject it into the twinkie before it's fried?
Allyson, insent to the aol account.
The only place I've seen deep fried twinkies is at a West LA restaurant that's now defunct. Where did you have it, Robin?
I think I've had dinner with meara in two cities. Neither of them is LA, though.
The only place I've seen deep-fried Twinkies was at Corn Fest (i.e., it's fair food.)
How to make a Dalek cupcake army.
Chip Shop in Brooklyn does deep fried Twinkies (they do deep fried anything, but I've never been tempted. Maybe because I've never had a non-fried Twinkie.
It was a great little breakfasty place within walking distance of my old apartment. And now it's been replaced by a hookah restaurant. I don't miss the twinkies, but I do miss most of the rest of their menu, including mimosas. I seem to recall they did a guava version...
Now I'm thinking you could have a restaurant that only serves deep fried twinkies. The dessert menu would of course be covered, but for entrees you could have deep fried twinkies that had been stuffed with steak or bacon. And to start things off, how about a nice deep fried twinkie stuffed with salad?

They do a deep-fried Atkins bar, which I find quite amusing.
