You were very nearly devoured by a giant demon snake. The words 'let that be a lesson' are a tad redundant at this juncture.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The fire-safe lockbox is great, Nora, highly recommended. I got mine after my dad had so much trouble replacing his naturalization papers, and it was invaluable whe the hurricane hit.

My mom still has a soc. sec. card with her maiden name on it. She eventually had to change her name with the SSA when the IRS complained after 10 or 20 years of her filing under her married name, but she never bothered to get a new card.

Rocket ships! Cool!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

tommyrot, please tell me that's a joke. Oh please.

I'm pretty sure it has to be. But I've been unable to get to the home page for that site....

eta: Oh, here it is: [link]

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

One of my parents' friends is starting a campaign to get his husband on What Not To Wear! I'm super excited, because I love that show! And he needs it. Also good for defying the stereotype that The Gays are well-dressed.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I'm watching 60 Minutes. The guy they based Rain Man on apparently learned to speak Icelandic (well enough to be interviewed in that language) in a WEEK.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Kim Peek, right? He's awesome. His brain is like no other brain, maybe ever.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Daniel Tammet--the British Guy. He's autistic, too, but much less impaired than Kim Peek. I thought there was more than one savant they used for Rain Man--at least they mentioned the movie in this interview.

Edited--

I'm paying more attention, now. He MET Kim Peek and they call him Brainman.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

They also at least interviewed Christopher Knowles when they were developing the Rainman characters. (It's mentioned here: [link] .)

msbelle is an awesome mom for making sure mac knows all about rocketships!

t, you reminded me... next step in office plan: get firesafe lockbox.

I was gonna say the same. The filebox I got is just a plastic rubbermaid and I'm thinking I should've gotten the firebox one. Didn't occur to me until later. Birth cert, passports, social security card, insurance and bank stuff...it's all in there.

1 hour to part 2 of Jane Eyre!

Our wings are not tired.

That forced me to watch 60 minutes. DH always watches, but I rarely enjoy it.

Talk about spicy brains.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, maybe Angelina Jolie wasn't so psyched at the Golden Globes because her mother was dying: [link]
