I told my mother ASAP when I started my period because she was having me go see a specialist because I was so damned old an not bleeding yet. I beat the appointment by less than a week. God, I'm grateful to have been spared that.

Given I had a crush on one of the students at the time and she freaking mentioned him and how crushworthy he was...yeah. Although my attitude was more WTF, OUCH and UHG. It's more in retrospect that I'm disturbed. At least I was of an age to take these things more in stride, right?
(FTR, said student left the field, became a magician and the rejoined the field in museums. I only know this cause the 'rents told me. Not googling.)
OK, I just googled said student because I couldn't recall what position he'd taken and, um...hey, wow, he hasn't aged well. And his position is way more woohoo than I'd thought.
