I have a friend who used to work as a ... dammit, forgot the job title ... she worked for the Canadian actor's union and went on set to make sure everything was okay. She got herself embroiled in a huge debate over nude scenes featuring an 8 year old girl (for sexual purposes). The parents of the girl said it was okay if she did it, since if she didn't, she'd get fired. M refused to let it happen, point blank. I think she won.
So not the same as
Hounddog.
I read that Caryn article last night, Jessica, and I wondered if I'd been sleeping the whole month she's referring to. She's not grounded in our reality.
Okay. Brekkie. Which is always the same, but I'm okay with that.
Because Repress and Deny! has been working so well for us as a nation.
Silly me!
It does give me the urge to go around passing judgment on lots of things that I'm not familiar with, though!
My brain isn't working very well. I forgot - how do you reboot a brain?
I read it and thought, Wait, why is the NYT covering celebreality? Lame!
They cover the coverage. For any tabloidy story, wait a day and the NYT will eat its cake and have it too.
Canada beats the US at life.

In re the Dakota Fanning thing, I'm unclear on why it was okay for Jena Malone to do a rape scene in Bastard out of Carolina (with an adult actor) when she was a minor -- I think 14 -- and not okay for somebody slightly more famous and moppet-looking to do the same. I don't remember a single protest over Malone's scene, although everybody acknowledged it was scary and traumatic.
What about the child rape scene in A Time to Kill? Were they protesting for the sake of little Rae'Ven Kelly? That scene still gives me nightmares.

Could someone theoretically review an Amazon book before it's been released if they've, say, read one chapter?
Since it's essays, I'd say sure.
Since it's Allyson, I say HELL YEAH!
Yay, Allyson!
And why did I not notice the name of your publisher until now? I know someone who works there! I should get a hold of him and see if he's read it yet.
