I've finished 2 folders of cds and am working on my 32 cd thingie. Almost done.

Of course, when I'm done? I have all this music I WANT.

Problem.

We just watched When StarWars Ruled the World on VH-1. It was cool. But it made me want to watch StarWars. Which we only have on VHS. I'm sick, I want to watch itin bed. My last job gave me a gift card to borders. DH just went to go fetch the dvd version. Good Husband.

It was all very weird - bump in title (yay) down in dollars ( boo) , a few less hours ( average per week) , more variety ( yay) ( but I will be doing storytimes --eek!) , closer to home ( yay), and the major bonus - tues, wed, thurs - no weekends at a public library job. Unheard of.

that's because the whole thing was odd. as in, when I intervied I wasn't sure if I wanted it. And my boss knew I got it about a week before I knew. and Oddly, the whole world assumed I would say yes I wasn't asked if I wanted the job, I was told when I would start.

so I never did a major annocement- because it all happend sorta sideways.

I should. To say something very "my diamond shoes are too tight" my old library was very well funded. and very well staffed. Which meant that I spent a lot of time waiting for people to ask me questions.Sometimes begging them to ask me questions. Occassionaly inventing questions. there are thousands of small backroom jobs that can be done at a public desk. But no, my job was 100% avaliblity to the public. An amazing customer service level, but not much for career building.

So... my birthday is only 23 hours long!

Don't worry about it. I'm already compensating by having the 25 hour birthday. I don't know if it happens this year, but it's happened a number of times.

Emmett tells me that about 19 times a day. Except it's in ten year old boy speak. "She's soooooooo cute! And she's tiny. I gotta kiss the baby."

She was so good today. She had a little fuss zone when the grandpa came over, but after that she was golden through the commuting, the ceremony (well, she did cry during the actual baptism, but that's considered good luck and she stopped immediately after), and was a pip all during the lunch and social whirl afterwards.

We went out to dinner tonight and JZ put her in the front pack, where she half napped half squirmed during dinner but didn't make any noise. When we got home I took the baby and was holding her and Jacqueline leaned over and the baby gave her a huge "Where have you been?" smile. Like, she hadn't seen mommy's face for two hours because she was in a front pack looking at mommy's chest.

Then Matilda was super chatty and vocalizing with me which is just the cutest freakin' thing. They stare at you very intently and their face cycles through all these expressions and they gurgle out something like, "Agoooawoorah!" Then they flap their arms at you expectantly.

Go Matilda on the charming of the public, of course no one is surprised given her parentage.

I saw Sparky and her DH at the Berkeley Rep tonight, where we saw a really cool play starring Bra'tac! (Okay, Tony Amendola.) It's "The Pillowman" by Martin McDonough, who wrote "Beauty Queen of Leenane" among other plays, which means it's long, verbose, witty, and absolutely brutal. It has a lot to say about art and narrative and torture and bad families and stuff. Started a bit too "The Trial" but after that it veered off into other territories.

Given my current fannish obsession, the fact that it involves two brothers in an abnormally fraught relationship just gave it more power for me.

At any rate, it would have been too difficult to watch, except for it being really damned funny. I'm constantly amazed that I can watch some things on television that become just too powerful and difficult when put on stage. I wonder why that is.
