Occasionally in trying to find something to watch, I find myself on American Idol and unable to hit the remote switch to get past the thing before I hear what's going on. What is the pleasure in watching these poor people getting ripped on by that Simon creature?
All I can think is Idol is the most recent version of The Gong Show. I hate that the only two shows I watch are on Fox and that I don't have the ability to fastforward through the ubiquitous commercials for this thing.

This is my theory. All the reality shows are the next generation of variety shows. Makes a little more sense to me that way.
I can't bear to watch AI at all until the final 12. Last season I only watched at all because a friend of mine gangpressed me into it, and then I actually took interest in some of the singers, and soon I'll own two of their albums, and.... gah. I feel a little dirty when I think about it too much.

I tried watching the first episodes this week, thinking that since now I can easily fast forward through the unbearably bad bits, it might be interesting. It wasn't. I still don't get how people can be so deluded about their singing ability, but that concept is really played out.
I was reading episode commentary last night, and sighing a lot.
I was amused, but a couple of times I saw lines on the order of:
They were so going to kiss, and not for the first time!
and, yeah.
t shrugs
I need to write some non-wincest slash just to prove how unhip I am.
There's a fair amount of non-cesty slash out there, but not as much as het, I think.
Oh, how the happy fun wincest makes the baby shrift cry.

Really? Because I haven't found much.
Paula Cole (where have all the cowboys gone?!)
sarameg, i have this at home if you're interested. i can upload. i just recently found it and added it to my iTunes library.
Cindy, i love reading your Office flails. i couldn't stop thinking about how Michael just left his people there after Andy went crazy and how if that had been my boss i would have hurt him for leaving me with a crazy person loose.
In sleep news, yesterday I went to bed at about 8, fell asleep about 8:30, woke up with the baby at 9:45, woke up with the baby at 12, woke up because of the frat boys next door at 1:30 and stayed awake, the baby woke up at 2, mr. flea came in at 3, we were up together until 3:15, at which point I went to sleep on the couch, woke up with Casper at 4, woke up to feed the baby at 4:30, he wouldn't go back to sleep, I went out to the couch at 5 to let mr. flea deal with him, slept on and off according to how much noise he was making until 6:30, and then got up.
Everyone in my house except mr. flea (and the innocent, quiet cat), plus everyone living next door? ON THE LIST.
I think I need an intervention.

Thanks for the offer, but no need. I'll get around to getting it once I figure out what to do with the dialup situation at home.
flea, this is why I'm afraid to have a baby.

Me too! And I wish I had something more substantial to add except ME TOO ME TOO! and
Angela totally made me cry all the way through last night starting with asking Oscar to join the party planning committee.
And
what's going to happen with Karen? Is she going to stay and be in pain. Poor Karen. and, yet, yay!
