oh my goodness (from a kid at school)
Ahahah! There's something awesome when little kids come out with earnest exclamations.
Interesting that two of the "firsts" are words on that list. I mean, not surprising, but ...it's just interesting!
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I am apparently physically unable to focus on the one (slightly complicated) task I have to do today.
In better news, I finally bought more Advil!!! (Or, actually, store-brand ibuprofin.)
I have Monday off! It's MLK Day and my brother's birthday AND BSG Season 3 Marathon Day!!!
Of course, the next holiday I have off is Memorial Day. But I get from Christmas Eve through New Year's Day off so I really shouldn't complain.
I hate job interviews, but quite honestly, I got more comfortable after having gone on a few. (It had been three years since my last interview; skills get rusty.) It's important even if you don't want the job, because it's less pressure to perform, and you get a chance to practice your questions and answers.
I understand that, which is why I'm going. And it's been almost 10 years for me, and my interview for my previous job was more socializing than anything, since I already worked for the company, the interview was done by the entire team I was joining, and I knew a couple of them already from having worked for the company.
So this is really going to be my first for really real interview for job that isn't retail or otherwise highschool summer-jobby.
I just wish I knew how much of me feeling ill was nerves, and how much was actually illness.
"I don't believe in ghosts, but underworld creatures have taken up residence in the building," Robertsen told newspaper Nordlys, referring to a term used for the fairies and goblins of Norwegian folklore.
I bet it's not a fairy but a Nisse. They have bad tempers and they don't like it when barns are disturbed or when humans are disrespectful to the land. When I was a child in Minnesota we always spoke kindly to them when in the barn, even though we never saw one.
From Wikipedia:
Despite his smallness, the tomte/nisse possessed an immense strength. Even though he was protective and caring he was easy to offend, and his retributions ranged from a stout box on the ears to the killing of livestock or ruining of the farm's fortune. The tomte/nisse was a traditionalist who did not like changes in the way things were done at the farm. Another easy way to offend him was rudeness: farm workers swearing, urinating in the barns, or not treating the creatures well would be soundly thrashed. If anyone spilled something on the floor in the house it was wise to shout a warning to the tomte below.
In our house, every day is Indigenous People's Day, or at least 1/8 of the time. Weekend plans: Maybe using bookstore gift card, video of The Devil Wears Prada.
Heh. Kind of ironic (or something -- shakes fist at Morrisette) that they'd kill livestock, but get pissy when livestock were mistreated.
Man, I want a food coma.

Oh, dear. I started doing real interviews when I was 19, and have been doing them every few years since. Once you soldier your way through their questions, and ask if you have any questions for them, I've had good experiences with "What are the major challenges I'll face working here?" and "What is your favorite part of working here?"
Man, that description of tomten makes them sound a lot like cats....
