I watched it. I thought it seemed a bit forced, but there were definitely laugh-out-loud moments. I don't watch any sitcoms besides HIMYM so maybe I'm just not used to them. I thought the cast had potential. I'll certainly give it my standard three watches before deciding whether to add it to the roster.
I read about it months ago, and the premise made me grin, and I thought it was cool that the got Mick Jagger to pop in, so I meant to watch it, but then forgot, because really (I think) the only sitcoms I care about
The Office,
and
Scrubs.
My mother caught the premiere and really liked it, which gave me hope, because her sitcom tolerance is generally lower than mine, so when they re-ran the premiere last Friday (or Sat) I gave it a chance.
I just saw the pilot, missed last night’s, though. I liked it.
I almost missed last night's. Our TiVo guide said ABC was running "In Case of Emergency," but when we were flipping through the channels, we realized it was actually KoP, instead, so we watched it. It was cute.
Not too spoilery...*
The woman who played Michelle Desler on 24 guest-starred, and her first line was something about having had an awful day. I'm not sure if it was an intentional 24 shout-out, but I took it as such, because it tickled to do so.
I like the coat Aurelia!
I wish I could road trip, ita, but I need more prep time. Which reminds me, I need to start thinking about Seattle and Portland.
It's supposed to be fricking cold here this weekend, and I left my main winter coat in JZ's car. Oh well.
I'm supposed to be getting dressed and going to the Stanford law library. Don't wanna.
Totally with you on the Top Chef whitefont, Megan.
No wine was a stupid, stupid move. Marcel needs to go away.

I guess that explains why my dvr didn't record it. It looks like it's one of the shows you can watch at abc.com though, so I guess I'll do that.
I have successfully transformed the hideous brown hoodie a well-meaning in-law gave me for Christmas into two pairs of pleated khakis and some underwear. Business casual is finally a possibility for me again!
Well, if you're so inclined, I'm sure a few people here wouldn't mind taking a look at it. I'd be more than happy, but be forewarned I do not have a tech background and don't know C++ from Perl.
Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on it.
Kalshane, what they all said. Is the 1.5 hour commute total or one way? Becuase that's about what I've got (with wiggle room for catching buses and off-schedule subway trains) and it leaves just enough time for an hour or more of reading time per day. I call it reclaimed fun time.
That's each way. My town is only the third stop (and used to be second. They just started servicing a town in southern WI within the past few years) on this particular line on the way into the city.
One of the most important things in an interview is to realize that you're interviewing them, to make sure they're good enough for you to work with them. Check for signs of asshat management (though goodness knows an asshat manager can come into a job at any time) and job satisfaction among the present workers. Especially nice to see, given the type of job you're looking for is retention of workers who started in your job slot and have advanced/been kept around and happy.
That's a good way to look at it and makes a lot of sense. I'll definitely keep that in mind.
I will say, when you become a parent, that time lost to commuting becomes more precious. If only because the partner at home with the small person needs you home sooner so s/he doesn't go kablooey. Just something to take under advisement, though I think you should definitely go for the interview.
Yeah, that's another point of concern for me. I'll be losing 15 hours a week to commuting. The gf has already made it clear there will be days where she's going to want to hand me the kid and get away for awhile. Those 15 hours are likely to make that need even more frequent.
Are the hours of this potential new job more standard?
Yes. I made it clear to the agency that I'm looking for a M-F position with hours between 8am and 6pm.
Kalshane, can you check to see if the new company offers some commuter benefits?
I didn't even think of that. I certainly can ask.
So, yeah, I guess I'm going to do the interview. Now lets see if the agency sends me the actual job description and gives me a call about it today like they said they would.
I need opinions on this coat. [link] Is this a look I could pull off?
That coat is the awesome.
Um, ok, so just because we couldn't verify I had a psychotic mouse, this does not mean you should disbelieve me when I say we have a system-wide problem and that no, the email is not being processed. I'm not crazy, people.
Is it an optical mouse, sarameg? If so, what sort of surface are you using it on? Sometimes the reflectiveness of the the mousing surface can make the mouse go wonky.
I am Duncan MacLeod of the clan MacLeod: [link]
Hee. I can't decide if that's scary or awesome.
(Edited to separate the interview talk from other stuff for clarity)
Traitor.
I'm giving them LOTS of money too.
Sounds like a project for Project Runway!
That's some sewing!
That's exactly what I thought! Amazing piece of transformation there, turning brown hoodie material into khakis, Matt.
