I've got a problem with Java in both Safari and Firefox. I'm on a Macbook Pro with Leopard and I've updated my software, repaired my permissions and restarted, but I cannot use some online games that I used to play all the time.
I get the message that Java is either not installed or not enabled. Neither of which are true. Does anyone have any ideas?

oh, this is a BIG question. So I tried a bunch of software programs, read a bunch of reviews, and I bought MacJournal. I liked it quite a lot, but I found it to be buggy as hell and would just quit for no reason. This did not make me happy.
So I started using Circus Ponies Notebook, which I like quite a lot. It is very stable and I generally find that it works with my way of working. Very functional. I read manuals, but I think it is the kind of software program that you skim for an overview, start using it, then go back to the manual and read some more, etc.
I also use Devonthink Pro for more comprehensive archives and collecting of things that I need to search en masse.
I'm happy to give you tips, etc. for the programs if you want to try them out, etc. Notebook gives a very nice trial period where I really could run it through the rails to see if I liked it. DTP also.

I thought that at first, but the list of addresses it sent to was EXACTLY the contact list that was on their online yahoo account. It was only about 10 addresses, because they almost never use it.

LeN, I grabbed jNotes, which is barebones and free--one step up from postits, really--and MacJournal to have a look at. I'm going to grab Circus Ponies too--my version of OS X won't run the DevonThink.

Any Dreamhost customers around here had any instances of them creating an .htaccess file for them? One magically appeared for provocateuse.com that broke parts of my sites. The response to my support request was quite condescending--no, I didn't work out it was an .htsccess issue, because I NEVER CREATED ONE.

What was in the .htaccess file? A couple of months ago, someone hacked my site by installing malicious .htaccess files in all the root directories.

I turned on my computer last night, it detected all the drives, gave the beep of approval, then didn't load anything else. It went to a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. The Setup shows it's set to boot from a CD drive, then a hard drive. Switching that to boot from the hard drive made no difference. It worked fine yesterday.
The only weird thing that happened was I plugged my flash drive into the plug as it was booting up the first time. Did I do something stupid?
Edit: The flash drive is fine.
