Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Ok, now I'm reading all kinds of horror stories about HD from cable boxes not working with receivers. Gaaaaaaaaaaaah. I just want to be able to plug shit in and have it work. Is that really so much to ask?
[The real problem is that most of these forum posts are from 2006, and I have no idea how accurate any of this information still is.]
Couldn't you just run HDMI to the TV and then digital audio from the TV to the receiver?

Yes, that's what I suspect we'll end up doing.
Wow. My receiver mentioned earlier already shipped. Nice.
Want. Although something tells me it won't be available in the US.
Maybe it will be sold here, though each box will include a lawsuit from MPAA.
My favorite comment on that Dune review:
Total lack of Sting means I will not purchase this device.
PC, I have the Canon SD750 as my second camera (first is a Nikon D40x) and it's been fantastic. A charged battery lasts for hundreds of photos; I've never had a problem with it. I would never go back to AAs.
Some examples of the picture quality can be found here.
I have a question for the technology side of the hivemind, please. If you were planning on donating technical expertise (coding, database development, etc.) to an allegedly good cause, where would you go? My organization will be launching something that will include a lot of open source development, and we'll be putting together a sign-up webpage for them. It would be great if I could see a few examples of good ones to get a feel for how they're organized. As I'm not a seriously techie person, I'm sure there are options and issues that I wouldn't even think of. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
