Vortex, I'm not sure, but there are some great iPhone forums that could probably answer that question. I will try to track one down in the morning.
Buffistechnology 3: "Press Some Buttons, See What Happens."
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
grr. My MacBook is not wanting to turn on the Airport. When I try, it just sits in spinny land. And the logo in the menu bar stays highlighted. I have an appointment at the Genius Bar tomorrow, but that doesn't help today. Any thoughts? It has been a little wonky with start and shutdown. Wonky as in, takes forever. This is a 4 month old MacBook (not shiny new non-firewire one) running 10.5.5.
Damn. I tried to find the answer for you and failed, Vortex. Let me poke ND. I bet he knows.

How peculiar. My Mac lost the network printer in the middle of me printing single pages from my browser. I hunted through applications and found out that it was trying to print to a 169.x.y.z IP address instead of the 192.168.a.b one. I went into the Printer Setup Utility and the Show Info option and typed in the right IP address and it started working again.
Bwuhuh? Anyone know if I did something wrong to make it get lost in the first place?
I'm also having Mac printer issues. I upgraded to Leopard and now I can't print. I've installed the new drivers and the weird thing is that the printer thinks it's printing just fine (showing completed jobs, etc), but nothing's actually happening.
It may just be that I need to reboot the Airport Express I'm using as a print server.
Okay, so my mom's wireless router doesn't go through the whole house, it just reaches as far as the kitchen. I think that we need to buy a better router, so what is the number that I am looking for to determine the strength of the signal?
Is it your new HP, ita? I've had that happen randomly with HPs before. Sometimes it would uninstall it completely. Check their website; they might have a driver update that will fix it.
I'm no help on the stat you're looking for, Vortex, but there are also signal range extenders you can buy that may be a cheaper solution to your problem.
Our 5 year old Canon G4 digital camera is starting to flake out (on Halloween the screen seems to have died). mr. flea poked around at Ritz camera and seems to have fallen in love with the Nikon D60 (he used to do photography some in college so knows a little bit; I am a point and shoot girl but I take most of the pictures, go figure). He turns 40 in two weeks so it seems like the right time to get him a big ticket present - anyone have experience with this model? Some reviews I have read say it isn't much different than the D40, which runs more than $100 cheaper. Are there other intro-level DSLRs you'd recommend?
javachik's camera is a Nikon D40
Looks like the big difference with the D60 is an image sensor cleaner and a jump from 6Mpixel to 10Mpixel.
I still like this site for reviews: [link]
