Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Try this: Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats
It worked for me.
eta: X-posty for the same MS download. Huh.
Oh my. This is embarrassing: [link]
pops in to wave... hey leNubian (because the last time I asked a job related question you wondered if I work for the craxy) - I just got spoken to for language in a program, specifically using the word 'orphan'. Apparently, the person who is upset has adopted and she is horrified that we are using the term in this manner.
"...for me "orphan" refers to those who don't have families to call their own, not to meetings that happen regularly. ...- it made my jaw drop because it hit that emotional button we all have in regard to family!"
Just in case anyone's not amused enough by other things.
I can't imagine what I would say in a similar situation, Sox. "I'm sorry you're offended by common terminology."? "I would change it but unfortunately that's what they're called."? "Get used to it."?
"I'm so sorry you're going to have to get over yourself and deal."
wow. I'm not sure I could work there.
for educator types, jimi says I should post these links to do with opera's new web standards curriculum,
It's been muggy and rainy here in NYC, and my Treo is on the fritz again. (It's a little rheumatic - every time it rains, it continually tries to sync whether it's connected to the computer or not, and winds up running down the battery in less than a day.)
Right now the iPhone and the G1 are looking like my best options for an upgrade, except the iPhone doesn't have a real keyboard, copy-paste, or picture messaging, and the G1 is likely to be even buggier than my Treo since it's 1st-generation EVERYTHING.
(And I know picture messaging seems like a minor thing, but DH and I use it *all* the time to send each other pics of Dylan. Attaching a pic to an email isn't nearly as convenient.)
Do Blackberries have casual games available? I'd probably go nuts if I couldn't play Freecell or Sudoku during my commute.
No interest in the Centro, Jessica? I've been happy with mine, as a Treo-lover. Yeah, I know Palm OS is still out of date, but it serves all my needs to this day.
