A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

From the review dcp linked to:

Luckily, there's a small add-on program for Firefox that lets the user prevent Flash files from running automatically when a page loads, and it turns Firefox into a stable, efficient browser.

Anyone know the name of (or where to find) this add-in?

t edit Maybe this one? [link]

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Just sharing some geek stuff I did this weekend that others might be interested in doing.

First, Not sure if iPhone/iTouch folks are aware of cool free app called REMOTE from Apple: [link] It allows you to use your iPhone as a remote for your iTunes via wi-fi. VERY HANDY. If you have some Airport Expresses, it even allows you to select which "speakers" to send to. So if your in the kitchen cooking up some medicine, and wanna find some Bob Dylan to jam to, easy cheesey, no need to go back to the computer.

Second. I think it was mentioned in the Game thread a while back, maybe here. But I was wondering if an AppleTV was for me, but the price is saying it's not. So I looked into Connect 360 shareware [link] It allows your Xbox-360 to access your iTunes and Movie folder on a Mac (something the Xbox isn't designed to do). Dude! So cool! So now when I record HD broadcasts via my eye-TV on the mac, I can send it to the TV and watch on the big screen! Ya, it's a 2 step process (export and then move into the MOVIES folder), but so much nicer watching on 40" screen in comfy chair than 20" screen in desk chair.

Anyhow, thought I'd share. There are settings you have to do for both softwares, so it's not quite plug & play, but close. And I think worth it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Request for suggestions: Best pick for open source OS X office suites that are Office compatible? Are any .docx compatible yet?

Does anyone know if you can do a mail merge to email WITH attachments? My email is in word, my mailing list is in excel, and I have 2 pdf's that I want to attach. I tried Word help and didn't see anything.

Ita, I use NeoOffice, and it's been fine. I will say, my use of OFFICE is limited and pretty basic. Not sure if it will be fully compatible with advanced features. YRMV. Worth a look. It does *not* require installing X-11. So typical keyboard shortcuts still use the command key, not the option key.

There is OpenOffice 3, it supports docx. However, it is only at the RC stage right now.

It's not going to be free, is it? Well, it will be much more affordable.
