Apple:
Cleaning Your PowerBook
Follow these general rules when cleaning the outside of your computer and its components:
* Shut down your PowerBook and remove the battery.
* Use a damp, soft, lint-free cloth to clean the computer’s exterior. Avoid getting moisture in any openings. Do not spray liquid directly on the computer.
* Don’t use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives.
Cleaning Your PowerBook Display
To clean your PowerBook screen, do the following:
* Shut down your PowerBook and remove the battery.
* Dampen a clean, soft, lint-free cloth or paper with water only and wipe the screen. Do not spray liquid directly on the screen.
That having been said, if the damp cloth had a watered-down bit of Simple Green in it, it might help the smudges. Then go over it again with a clean damp cloth to remove possible residue.
I've been using eye glass cleaning cloths for the outside of mine.
OMG, they are so paranoid AND ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME. Where's the cheapy wipe & swipe?

*sits with sarameg*
I just want to get smudges off, Apple, not disarm a nuclear bomb...
eta: grrr, forgot that * was a quick edit.
there's an iPhone app called pterm now, which is an SSH client based on PuTTY.
Also, if anybody uses RDP for Windows admin, there's WinAdmin, which is suprisingly usable.

Notice I distanced myself from their notes by setting them off by themselves.
Unplug the battery?!
One annoying thing is browsers rename all the graphics files in the cache.
uh, you don't use IE much, do you Tommy? That sucker still retains the original filename in the cache. Their (MS) concession to security issues seems to be that they now use random strings for the names of sub-directories under the temporary internet files directory.
Does anyone kno of a ay to get subtitles (english) or closed captioning on Netflix instant watch things? Or the things from itunes?
My street is really loud and I need them!
As far as I know, you can't get subtitles on Instant Watch.
If I set up a new Airport Extreme that has 802.11n, then add an old Airport Express to the network that only has 802.11g, will it slow down the whole network? I want to be able to continue using AirTunes, and would prefer not to buy an updated Airport Express to do it.
Of course, the next question is: with my cable connection, will the difference between 802.11g and 802.11n be noticeable most of the time? I could always unplug the Express for hardcore internal file transfers, like backups, I spose.
