Coding and Sleeping

How can I make it stop being so fucking irritating? Is there a plugin for that?

Yes, it's called Office XP.

There's also an unofficial plug-in called OpenOffice

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

This isn't really a question. I hate everything about Office 2007.

I don't hate everything about office 2007. But I do have to learn how to programmatically change the Ribbon using XML (or is it XSL?), which I am not looking forward to....

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I have OpenOffice on my Mac and love it, but my workstation PC can only run the approved [Companyname] desktop suite, which unfortunately includes this TOTAL PIECE OF CRAP WHICH DOES NOT WORK.

Okay, now I do have a specific question. I have an Excel spreadsheet with macros in it. It was designed many years ago by a committee of deranged weasels, but unfortunately we are required to use it when sending orders to one particular facility because it's compatible with something on their end that nothing else is.

SOMEHOW in the transition from Excel 2003 to Excel 2007, it has become password-protected and encrypted. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove these things so that the person I am sending it to can open it. Help?

[eta: Wait, I think I found it. Buried under about fifteen thousand layers of non-intuitive dropdown menus. Thanks, Microsoft, for your continuing commitment to usability.]

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

I have a couple silly OS-X 10.5.x questions.

  • it seems everytime my computer goes to sleep, it logs me out and quits all applications. Kind of annoying. I can't seem to find that option to turn off.

  • how does one change the position of an icon in the dock? You used to be able to click and slide it around. It doesn't seem to do that. I can remove it, but not move it.

I'm sure I'm being a bonehead, but brain is full from new job stuff.

ok, now the dock is behaving. I guess you really need to push the icon deep into the dock or something? I don't know. Of course it started to behave AFTER I ask the question, so I can look foolish.

Weird, Omnis. I don't have that sleep problem. It's never happened to me.
