Went to the Apple Store today to get a bag for new work computer. There is a line around the building. I'm like, "what the heck? Did they announce something I hadn't heard of?" Nope, still have a line for the new iPhone! I dunno if Dallas is just behind in the distribution? Or is it the same in other areas?

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
omni,
go to ebags.com - they have MARVELOUS bags.
I showed up a 6:45 a.m. on Sunday at the Fifth Avenue store and they had already closed the line. As many people in line as there were phones.
I'm strongly considering saying screw it and just getting a Centro or Blackberry Curve. It's cheaper, especially in the long run for me on T-mobile, and provides adequate data speed for my needs. I can then get an iPod Touch if I really need the apps at a later time.
thanks le nubian. I could get in fine. And I purchased a bag. It was just kinda strange to see a line still. It seemed to be run very well. Line outside not blocking the door. Another inside in the A/C. And a person at the door letting in folks a few at a time to keep the line moving.
They've already sold over a million iPhone 3G's. That took 74 days with the original iPhone. They are having some issues meeting demand.
yeah and mobileme is still a mess for some people.
Tamara is coming over to the thread and needs help with a laptop. She would prefer PC, and I don't know what her budget is.
I'm likely to recommend Dell first, but I know others who prefer different brands.
Hi all. It is a shiny new thread that I have never been in before.
iTunes let me know this last weekend in no uncertain terms that my 7 year old compaq desktop is a piece of shit. I use my computer for the heavy and constant interweb use, email, lots of video streaming and downloading and the occasional spreadsheet and database application for work. I don't need anything fancy and would like to keep the price under $1000. I would prefer a notebook over a desktop but, that may be pie in the sky. I don't need a monitor or keyboard or printer or any of the stuff they usually throw in.
Any suggestions would be welcome and appreciated although I may not get back here until after comic-con.

My freind Joe works at the one on Knox/Henderson. He worked on Monday and said they had cut off the line, and when he left 3 hours later people were still waiting to get the phone.
If you're thinking about getting a Mac, I would definitely wait a couple of weeks, as there are rumors swirling around that Apple will soon be releasing newer, lower-priced models.
