I'm about ten seconds away from tossing the printer out the window.

I was so happy with my Brother all in one, I was willing to stick with them for life. This whole process would threaten that relationship, but apparently there's been lots of problems with lots of printers.

I've been fortunate with my HP, we've got one of the small office grade inkjets. Sorry to hear that Brother is being a pain.

The status is NOT quo.

Sean, don't kill your printer. Think of the poor little ink cartridges!

I seem to have misstepped.

Nah, I think I'll keep you around.

An interesting experiment would be to create a new user account on your Mac and see if it can print to the Brother printer.

Another interesting experiment would be to test the air worthiness of the printer given a second floor window launch.

Maybe not the wisest experiment, but I'd be interested.

It has been a while since I worked out an airspeed ratio.

Worth a try, I guess, though S's computer has also lost the ability to print.

And actually, if I resort to reverting to an earlier state on my machine in an attempt to fix printing (eventually I *need* to update all the way to 10.5.3 in order to run ProTools), I won't be able to use the same fix on S's computer.

We don't have an external hard drive for her, so she has no Time Machine implemented.

I bet it's similar to the airspeed velocity of an unladen sparrow.
