Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

That's what I've got in my "office"! Though eventually I plan to buy something nicer. Or rather, buy something nicer for the bedroom, adn bring the off-brand iHome thing into the office, so I can have radio AND itunes.

So, if a person were in the market for a new laptop, would CNET reviews be a good place to start looking? Or is there somewhere else? I'm looking for cheapish but not crappy.
you can start there, but I find their reviews to be somewhat inadequate and usually out of date for my purposes. you might start reading and then ask here for opinions, etc.
I like Dell and Dell has decent deals on refurbished laptops.
I know others here like Sony.
Toshibas also get very high marks around here.
Cool, thanks. I like that CNET compares them to one another, because I don't really know what I'm looking for.
