Whoa! I... I think I'm having a thought. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a thought. Now I'm having a plan. Now I'm having a wiggins.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

If you're organized enough to fire up the backup each time by hand, you can keep it in whatever drawer you want and plug in when needed (but note that it's a really easy way to forget to do backups) (reaches for backup drive). If you're making your backups run automagically, it should be plugged in.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

If I were going to keep it plugged in to the computer, I would need to buy much longer cables. And there's not really much new stuff going on in the computer -- mostly I'm worried about not losing all my grad school stuff, and music. OK, I'll set myself an alarm to do the backing up.

Maybe renter's insurance next??

Any recommendations for a usb hub? My two slot powermac means I don't keep my laCie drive plugged in...or anything besides my printer and keyboard...which is supremely inconvenient.

It's really inexpensive for peace of mind. I pay maybe $10/mo. In the time I've had it, if something catastrophic happened, it would pay itself off over gobs of times.

Which reminds me, I need to pay my car insurance. Of which the above statement is not really true.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hmm. I think I've just convinced myself to go the Time Capsule route nonetheless. Why not make it effortless for one of my machines? Another excuse to upgrade to Leopard...

Drew, when you sail by...

Thanks again for the ref to Martin Vire. I ended up having to call him and he was very cordial. He was pleased to hear your name.

Omnis, life has gotten in the way of my hooking up my new Blue Snowball...but it's gorgeous. Can't wait to get started using it.

Martin is a great guy. If I make it to the F2F I'm finally going to meet him after years of doing business with him. Full Compass is located in Madison.
