I have the same complaint about the earbuds that came with it. I used to have earbuds with my old Walkman that had a soft foam cover that helped them stay in place. I wonder if I could find some of those covers.

I don't like the ones that came with the ipod. I have the ones that have soft rubber cones that go in the ear, and they come with three sizes so they're adjustable.

Buy the kind Dana has, but don't buy them at Apple. Way overpriced. Target has a ton, including one brand I want to buy just because they're called Skull Candy.

I can't use earbuds either. Something like these came with my Sony Clié back in about 2001, and I still use them. They are amazing -- I noticed things on old and familiar CDs that I had never heard before, with any other headphones or speakers.

If you're willing to go non-earbud and you're willing to pay a tad more for sound quality, the Sennheiser PX100's and the Koss PortaPros are both portable (they fold up into little cases) and have fantastic sound quality. Audiophile friends of mine compare them favorably with much more expensive headphones that are much less than portable. However, they do have that whole over-the-head thing going on which is kinda passé at this point, so your love may vary. The PortaPros, at least, have a lifetime warranty that is exceptionally well honored (I went through three pairs before I actually lost the last one).
Of course, after spending all this time and money playing with nice, expensive portable headphones, I realized I hardly ever listen to music with headphones and started buying $5 cheapy earbuds for those rare occasions when I do. But that's me.

I use the Apple brand in-ear earbuds (the ones that have the soft round rubber things on the end in 3 interchangeable sizes). I think they were around $30. The sound quality is fine - I mostly listen to podcasts, so I'm pickier about the comfort than about the audio, and these are the only headphones I've ever liked. They stay in my ears and don't chafe like regular earbuds do.
