All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Sounds odd enough to maybe be a virus, OTOH, it's almost never actually a virus. Sort of like the first diagnosis on House.

That's not very reassuring.

Coding and Sleeping

It's probably worth it to do a virus scan like with (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) if you don't have a scanner. When that doesn't turn out to be the problem, I'd probably try to reinstall Excel.

Okay, late last night, our TV crapped out completely. With a pop/fizzle, something inside the box blew and the TV is no more.

We want to go buy a new one today.

I've been looking at prices online, and Sears is having some pretty good sales today, and I checked Fry's because they're sometimes cheaper than anywhere else, but not on TVs. Best Buy and Circuit City have all always seemed a little expensive to me.

Can anybody give good advice on where to get the best price on a 30-32 inch flatscreen? Do the websites not give truly representative prices, do I need to hit each store in person to find the best price, and then go back to the place with the best price?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I know that being sans teevee for a few weeks might not be an option, but if you wait until President's Day weekend, there will likely be sales.

I can't wait that long.

I should wait that long.

DAMN YOU, STUPID TV! Why couldn't you have waited just a couple weeks more to crap out??????

Our wings are not tired

Actually Best Buy has been running some decent deals with the lead up to the Superbowl. Also, you should really go into some stores and look at the picture on the TV's you are considering. They can vary pretty widely.

Oh yeah, we're about to head out and do in-store shopping. I'd just been looking at prices online to see if I can maybe winnow down the number of stores we hit. But I'll add Best Buy to the list.

Also, there's part of me that really wants a flat-panel, HD or HD ready LCD TV, but some of the prices on super-slim CRTs is making me consider putting that purchase off just a little longer, since we'll likely be getting a 5.1 surround system as well.

JR.com, bhphotovideo.com and crutchfield.com usually have pretty good online prices.

If you want to look at bhphotovideo.com, do it quick, though, because they actually close their web site for the sabbath.

Also also?

What's the difference between a flat-panel TV and a flat-panel monitor? THere's LCD TVs that are cheaper, but say something to the effect of not having a tuner. Does that just mean it will only work with cable, and not, like, an antenna?
