Holy Shit: 150-Inch Panasonic Plasma HDTV at CES
Japanese paper Yomiuri is reporting that Panasonic will unveil a 150-inch plasma to show the world who has the biggest flatscreen manufacturing capability. That above is the photo of the now second-place 103-inch plasma as big as a queen-sized bed. (Sharp has the current title of biggest at 108-inches). If your mcmansion isn't big enough to fit it, don't even bother inquiring about the price.
I'm still stuck on CeeLite, the sheets of light.
Bring me CeeLite to light my shots.
150"?? Holy cow. Looks like Fahrenheit 451 walls aren't that far away.
Makes me wonder...how seamlessly can LCDs do this effect? What's their mandatory margin?
150-inch plasma
Meep.
(And hey, Yomiuri has offices in my building. But I'm thinking the chances are slim that they were sent a review model...)
There are rumors that Apple is going to open a store exactly three blocks from my home.
Unfortunately, it's complete bullshit. Property developers spread these rumors to drum up publicity. It really isn't that great a retail location.

Freaky - looks like a clear piece of plastic suspended in the room....
I was TV shopping last night at Best Buy, and it looks like I'll probably end up with a Samsung 32" LCD HDTV for about $800, unless I can get it cheaper through another source. It's not as big as I thought it'd be, but at least it'll fit on my current TV stand. I have to finish looking up the various models through my dad's Consumer Reports account, but the Samsung has the highest contrast ratio and all the various plug-in options that I want.

I've worked with LCDs for commercial installation with margins down to about half an inch. For large video walls there are special projection style monitors that have about an 1/8th of an inch margin, though in the past few years huge flexible walls of LEDs have been the way to go, I've worked with a few of those than can cover the wall of a room. We had one of them in the Porsche room at the LA Auto Show this year.
