Okay. What is up with this?

I have downloaded Quicktime 7 at least 7 times. It works perfectly right after downloading but...if I should have the audacity to click on a movie preview that is intended to be viewed as hd, OR if I shut down and restart for any reason at all...Quicktime stops working. (and I get an error message that says I don't have it.)

It's a complete and total mystery to me.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I am SO not a web developer, and I could have fixed that for you, Ginger. Because I had one 8-hour XHTML class AND I HAVE A BRANE.

I have had no XHTML or HTML classes and only 1/2 a brane, and I could have fixed this with access or known to pass it on to the right person if I didn't have access. I know people who work with tech people who don't, but they probably would have passed this on to me (or someone like me) at the first exchange. You have my sincere sympathies, Ginger.

What is even happening?

How do I save a screenshot of a webpage? Do I just do click on "file" and then "save as"?

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

To take a screenshot, press Alt and the PrintScreen key. That will copy the active window. You can then paste it into Word or Paint and save it that way. File-->Save won't let you take a screenshot, but you could also try saving it as a complete webpage or web archive. That's hit or miss, depending on what the page contains.

What is even happening?

Thank you, Dana. I've done both.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Is there any relatively simple way to play a movie from my computer on to my tv screen?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

You probably need something like this: [link]

(Note: I haven't researched all the options, so I don't know if there's a more economical way. Also, I don't know what inputs your TV has, or what outputs your computer has)

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

DH's computer (iMac G5, about 2 years old) started having problems last night -- it won't stay on more than about 15 minutes, and won't restart with the power button after it shuts itself off. (It will restart if you unplug it and plug it back in.) After three or four reboots, we started to smell burnt plastic in the room, and stopped trying.

Does this sound like a fan issue or a power source issue? How much might it cost to fix if we don't have Applecare?

[eta: I found this document on the Apple website, so hopefully I can at least confirm that it knows it's overheating this way.

And aside, this is how Apple phrases it:

LED 4 lights only if the computer detects an over-temperature condition.

"an over-temperature condition"?? No wonder searching the help site for 'imac G5 overheating" doesn't turn up any results. Google led me to a forum led me back to Apple to find that page.]

No idea -- but it sounds like a job for a professional, for sure.

Yeah, I suggest that you go to TekServe and get an estimate. Unfortunately, they don't give estimates on Sundays.
