Hey now, being a Linux geek myself I can tell you that Linux gmail design is unfair. Not only would there be a command line version with 500 options, there would also be a brown GNOME version with two buttons and no features and a blue KDE version with 10,000 configuration options.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

Yeah, I considered the Linux GUIs, but technically they're not actually part of Linux. Or something.
I suppose then there'd also be a port of the Linux gmail to OS X that would require X11 - and a dozen other things you'd have to install before compiling it....

I'm thinking of getting my sister a photo printer for her birthday. Anyone got a favorite that's relatively compact and under $100?
I'm considering one of these adapters for USB to IDE/SATA. We have one at work that's a little lesser quality and it works well. It's simple: we plug it into drives and then plug them into the computer.
At least this one has a 1 year warrantee. Also? Free shipping.
What do you think?
I'm thinking about getting a Vaja iPhone case for GF for Christmas. Anyone use one before? [link] I'm looking at the one with the stripe down the center (it's so her).
Jessica, we have a great HP one but I don't know off hand the exact number of how much it cost. Still, it makes great pictures.

Daniel, I have one, and it works fine. It's quick and easy for getting data off on old drive without physically installing the drive in something.
I'm also interested in any photo printer recommendations. We are considering a digital camera and printer for K-Bug....
So I'm pricing DSL plans, as I'm informed that I'm paying way too much for my internet service. Does anyone happen to know why a static IP address is preferable to a dynamic one, to the tune of $20/month?
Or, I'm sure someone knows, but I'd like to know why.
