We didn't have much trouble getting Comcast to set up our cable cards back at the end of 2006. I think it only took two visits from the installer.

One thing we discovered is that the cable cards are quite heat-sensitive. When the Series 3 was in the enclosed part of the entertainment center, sometimes the cards would stop working. Since we moved it to an un-enclosed area, they've been rock-solid.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Another HDTV question: a CNet review includes "Sharp's LC-37D90U is too small to take full advantage of its high 1080p resolution" which implies that if I'm shopping for 37" or less, 1080p is not a big deal, and might be money for nothing.

Opinions?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I have a 1080p monitor, and I can tell the difference between 1080i and 720p, but then again, I sit less than 6 feet away in my NYC apartment. But you're right, it wouldn't be a big deal if I had a 720p set.

A year ago I was looking at the 37" Sharp, but I ended up getting the 37" Westinghouse for almost $1K less. The picture quality isn't as good, but it was hard to argue with the price. And now, a year later, the 42" Westinghouse costs as much as I paid last year: [link]

(Note that the Westinghouses are monitors, and not TVs, so you'll need an external tuner, like a cable box or a TiVo to use them).

Cool. Thanks a ton.

I think I'm seeing a fair number of monitors sold as TVs with a little added text, but I'm good with that. It's weird to think that my used-as-nothing-but-a-monitor a few years ago cost more than I think I should spend on a much larger monitor/TV now.

Does anybody have any suggestions for a page layout/desktop publishing tool for the Mac? Preferably in the free or cheap range.

Our wings are not tired

Pages, which is part of the iWork package is pretty good. It's $79 for the iWork. You'll get Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.

Oooh! I liked what I saw of Keynote.

Not that I'm putting together slide shows every week, but at that price, I just might start.

Not javachik

I've been emailed about 50 individual emails in Gmail in response to a request for documentation for a timeline in a lawsuit, and I want to print them out to organize. Is there an easier way to print them all than opening each one to print individually?
