Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

what is the difference between cable upload/download speed rates and dsl.

DSL can have the same upload and download speed (called Synchronous DSL?) or they can be different (with higher download speeds).

eta: I think cable always has a much higher download speed than upload.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

that's what I was afraid of.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I think cable always has a much higher download speed than upload.

You can get it synchronous cable (at least from Cox), but it costs more. We have it where I work.

So is that a business account? I mean, do all business accounts come with equal up and download speeds?

At work we have a Comcast business account. I've always assumed the download speed was much faster, but now I'm not sure.

I wonder if Comcast messes with their business accounts the same way they do with home accounts....

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Well, that article had them messing with Notes, so it's probable.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The current Earthlink add running on Buzz Out Loud is for something called "freestanding DSL" that you don't need a phone line for, but I think the coverage areas are very limited.

Leopard features, and a release date of the 26th (I skimmed, but didn't find mention of that here).

It will be available [...] Friday, October 26th, at 6pm in Apple Stores and at authorized resellers. Leopard may be the most ambitious MacOS update since the switch to OS X, with new features such as Time Machine, Spaces and Quick Look, plus updated iChat and Mail and a snazzy new Dock with Stacks. The upgrade will cost $129 for a single-user license, and $199 for five-user "family pack." Meanwhile, if you've bought a Mac anytime on or after October 1st, you'll get an upgrade for the cost of shipping

I just ordered a 250GB HD, so I can swap drives when I install Leopard.

I'm more excited about finally being able to fit all my music on my laptop again....

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

You'll need a second disk if you want to take advantage of Time Machine.

It's definitely worth reading the original WaPo article about it: [link]
