I don't know if you could do it with a "real" combo box, but you could certainly design a fake combo box with those properties using CSS and Javascript.
And by "you", I mean someone with more knowledge of CSS than I.
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

Has anyone ever had a bad/weird eBay experience seeling computer stuff? I've got someone who says they want to buy my Powerbook, and I keep telling him to just go bid, but he keeps saying he wants to Paypal me the money directly.
Don't do it. In fact, report him to eBay abuse. It's likely some sort of scam.
I reported him. We will see what happens now. I checked out his profile - everyone he's ever bought from is no longer registered. Bad sign. Thanks for confirming the gut feeling I had.
Well that just shit on my whole day.
I bought a bunch of stuff yesterday, including a new graphics card. a GeForce 7300gs with 256mg of video RAM.
This morning, I went to install the thing.
I have PCI slots and an AGP slot, but no PCI Express slots.
I hope Best Buy takes it back, and I hope they have a video card in my price range that will fit in either a PCI or AGP slot.
CRANKY!
I think PCI Express stuff tends to be more expensive than the older AGP and PCI stuff, so you should be in luck.
