Thanks! I gave my students a little template project to make really basic single-screen apps - essentially an html file with a couple of sample screens in that form and a javascript function called "switch_screen(id)" to enable the screen switching through hiding/showing the sections - to let them focus more on the javascript side of things and less on the HTML. We have been learning java in the course mostly, and there are decent GUI builder tools for java GUI apps, but a lot of them want to do web stuff for their final project.
The drag-and-drop javascript DOM API is much easier to use than I thought it would be, honestly.
What would cause my computer to display some websites and some email without the letters Y and z, and display x as quote marks? Wall Street Journal does that. And NY Times shows up that way but resolves into normal. Am I missing a font or something?

My very old printer will no longer speak to my computer. I’ve tried all the internet advice for fixing it and nothing works. So I need recommendations for a printer scanner that will work well with a PC and a Mac and isn’t pricey.
I like Brother printers and combos. Laser though, not inkjet, not sure what your preference is.
My Epson inkjet has been on the brink of death for years now and I really just need it to get it over with so I can buy a laser printer instead.

I have an old InkJet but can't be arsed to deal with dried-out cartridges, so haven't used it for a couple of years. This convo reminded me that I need an affordable printer/copier/scanner, preferably Laser, that I occasionally have to use for those weeks when I have to WFH. Too lazy for further research, so I just went ahead and bought the first recommended printer on that article off Amazon, which is not bad price-wise ($138), with an after-market non-HP B/W cartridge that's $20 cheaper than the HP version. Hopefully it works fine! There are a bunch of one star reviews about connectivity issues, but I just plan on parking it on the desk with a USB connector to my desktop, so it should be straightforward? We shall see.
