And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm just here to whine - I factory reset my phone to see if it would resolve the battery issues I've been having since the Android 8.0 update (SPOILER ALERT IT DID NOT), and in the process, lost access to the Pebble app. Which I maybe should have anticipated since Pebble went out of business over a year ago, but now my smartwatch is just a dumb watch (like, even the Timer and Stopwatch "apps" won't work without a connection to the main app on the phone), and I can't find anything on the market that looks really appealing as a replacement.

Things I liked about the Pebble that nobody making smartwatches now seems to care about:

-weeklong battery life (the screen is e-ink rather than LCD or OLED)
-actually waterproof - I've taken this watch in the pool and to the beach

All other smartwatches out there that claim to be waterproof have scads of reviews saying actually, no, don't swim with this watch, I took it in the pool once and it stopped working and the manufacturer won't honor the warranty if you return it with water damage even though there is literally a picture of someone swimming with this watch on the fucking box and a Swim Mode for tracking laps.

And nobody is making watches with e-ink displays, so bye bye battery life.

GODDAMNIT PEBBLE WHY DID YOU HAVE TO SELL YOURSELF TO FITBIT? WHYYYYYYY?

t /end rant

Jessica, not sure what all you need to be smart about it but the Garlin Forerunner 35 might work? It's more a running watch than a smart watch, but if you're not using the constant god while running, the battery lasts a week or more.

I can't even.

I use the Garmin 35 as a running watch (aka baby Garmin) and really like it. There might be some decent prices ($100 off?) on them for Holiday sales (there were some good Black Friday prices, but y'know).

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I bought a Fossil Q Explorist, and so far I really like it. I was hoping to replace the band with a leather cuff-style one, but it would block the charging cable.

I need help with Lastpass. I have a form fill saved so that every time I go to amazon.com on Firefox, it fills in a particular ASIN in the search bar. This wouldn't be so bad, except that it does it on EVERY PAGE, so if I search for something and then want to tweak it, I have to retype the whole thing because LastPass overwrites it with this stupid ASIN. (And searching for things by variations on a specific title is something I have to do all the time for work, so.)

I know that Lastpass is responsible for this because when I disabled the extension, the issue went away. And it came back as soon as I turned it back on.

I've searched in my LP vault for "amazon" "firefox" "mozilla" and the ASIN itself, and found nothing. Anyone know how I can find this and delete it forever???

OMG I FIGURED IT OUT.

There is a settings menu within the site settings menu, and in there there is a field with *extra* form fills that I guess are filled in if you accidentally hit "save all" when you're on a website. I have deleted the offending entry and all is well with the world.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Help! My gmail account is getting flooded by spam messages for lists and accounts I never signed up for. How do I make it stop?

Mine too.

Ugh, sj. It's like 1000s of messages from 11:15 on today. I've spent the last hour and half dealing with it.

I'm only getting 5 or so but I didn't sign up for these.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Weird day all around. No GMail spam (yet...), but I got a voice mail on my cell in Chinese, allegedly from Warwick, RI.
