I feel your pain, Jessica. Glad you found a work around. And HELL YES on the xkcd.

Our wings are not tired

That xkcd describes so much of my career.

There are a few software packages out there where the companies behind them call me when they get errors they don't understand because I'm likely to have run into them and found ways around them. It means that even the authors of the software aren't often helpful for me.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Usually I wait a few days to update to a new iOS (in case there are issues), but I grabbed the update as soon as it was available because I needed to update iOS on my phone before the WatchOS. But then they delayed the release of WatchOS 2 due to a lingering bug.

Bastards!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

They say it was a lingering bug, but it was really just to screw with you.

1st new thing I noticed in iOS 9--the keyboard is in lower-case unless you are typing a capital letter.

2nd new thing--the display gets much darker in a dark room than it used to.

3rd new thing--sometimes I accidentally call up the multitasking screen.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Anyone ever have a problem with Chrome not staying zoomed? It's always remembered my zoom setting on each site, but on my new computer, it resets each time I visit a site.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

This is a headscratcher. Was wondering if anyone else experienced it, or knows the cause or solution.

I have an Apple extended aluminum keyboard connected to my MacBook Pro. Yesterday, it started doing strange things. Like tabbing into the address bar when in a form in Firefox. And today, it will not allow me to make a capital U when using the LEFT shift key. It will with the RIGHT shift key, or caps lock. However, if I use the RIGHT shift key, the computer starts making the "dummy" noise for a command it can't complete type of thing, until I depress the LEFT shift key again a couple times. All other letters and numbers work with the LEFT shift key, as well as the right.

Bizzare, no?

To ask a few obvious questions:

Did you try rebooting?

This is via USB, right? If it's a wireless keyboard, are the batteries good? If USB, is the wire and connector in good shape? Can you try a different USB port on the laptop? And on the keyboard, if it has more than one?

Are any of the keys stuck? I'd try pressing each shift key, command key, option key and control key a few times. And the U key.
