No idea how to do that. I guess I'll wait until tomorrow to have them look at it. Hopefully it is just a simple battery issue. Thanks.

The battery on this computer requires unscrewing the entire underside of the computer. So, I brought it in, and they're going to order me a new battery and install it for me, since the warranty still applies and since the battery was fine before I sent the computer in for repairs. It will probably take a few extra days to come in because of the holiday weekend, but in the meantime I have the computer at home and can use it as long as it's plugged in.
Since I got a new phone (iPhone 6), I went ahead and updated the OSes on my iPad and older phone (3s). I know I only get phone service on my new phone, but I was wondering about using google voice to route calls to the other phone while it has access to wifi. Sort of make it an oversized iPod/city phone so I don't risk the new shiny while I'm getting exercise (I can access town wireless for a good part of my usual exercise route). Does anyone see any pitfalls with this plan? My old phone has no trade in value to speak of, and it fits my armband phone holders (my new phone, nsm).
Calli, it works. I actually have made and received free calls with Hangouts, which is what Google now prefers for using Voice.
You can also use other phone apps on the iPad and on your old phone to make outgoing calls via Wi-fi. There are a few out there that are totally free, including Ringto, and the like.
Awesome! I'll totally try that when I'm sober. Thanks, DCJ!
So here's a weird one for you all.
I have just resurrected a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with a new Motherboard. It works OK, except the keyboard has various keys out.
A USB keyboard works fine when plugged in.
I have a Dell Vostro 1525 with similar size keyboard, and they have the same ribbon connection, so I thought, "why not?"
After swapping the keyboard from the Vostro into the Inspiron, that keyboard worked.
So I decided it was the keyboard, and put the keyboard into the vostro so as not to lose parts while I scrounged for a new keyboard.
However, the Inspiron keyboard also works fine in the Vostro.
Thinking I had made some sort of mistake initially, I put the Inspiron keyboard back into the Inspiron. The missing keys were back.
I gave up and swapped them one more time, and both laptops work with the keyboards from the other.
At this point I'm tempted to pop off and swap the five or six keys that show different icons and go with it.
What do people recommend for downloading off of YouTube? A recent Firefox upgrade seems to have knocked out the one I had.
I've been happy with the NetVideoHunter add-in for Firefox. It works with Vimeo too!
My free McAfee has expired. Thoughts for new antivirus? Stay with McAfee? Something else?
Does your internet provider offer free anti-virus? Comcast does, as do many others.
