Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

It's not the site - it's EVERY SINGLE PAGE has to (according to the full-of-shit vendor) have its backup created and then restored. And every time a page is edited, I have to go through the same f*king process ... which at this point is taking close to 15 minutes for EACH page.

Now it could be that they've done something cute so that it is necessary ... but the information they sent us originally had incorrect information about the image size, so I don't know if they're shitting us or did something to make it harder to do.

WHY we needed a second site I will NEVER understand. I'm just left holding the bag, so to speak.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Elgato + Mac

EyeTV doesn't come with a TV tuner, just component in. (Which it then converts to H.264 and somehow still has the nerve to call the outputted video "pristine" so...)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Huh. I didn't realize that Elgato stopped making ATSC tuners.

The EyeTV software will work with a HDHomeRun DUAL. Of course, it's starting to get expensive, but maybe still cheaper than a TiVo?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

More likely, they don't know how to use the damn software but they feel free to tell you what to do anyway.

Seriously. I'm not sure what kind of processes you have in place to "require" this, but unless some equally bullshit boss is standing over you with threats to your employment, you could really probably just skip it.

(If you want, drop me a note with more details about what they want you to do, because it doesn't even begin to make sense. But with the details, I might be able to help figure out what they're really getting at and save you hours every day (which you should totally use to play online instead))

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I was using an HD Homerun tuner with EyeTV software, I think. In fact I should still have it and it is useless to me with my no OTA reception if you want to try that option.

amych, thanks for the info. I gave a try ... and if I don't go through the whole create/restore backup process the post just sits there as a draft. The updated version is only visible on the edit site.

It looks like they set up a staging site for us (me) to work on and the create/restore backup process sends it to the live/production server.

damn them

Ah, yeah, that makes more sense, but it sounds like a PITA way to implement a staging workflow. Bleh.

I can't think of a good reason to do this ... all I can think of is that they did all the planning and design with people who have limited knowledge of how websites work (one adamantly refuses to review anything electronically - everything - including emails - is printed, marked up, and then given to ... usually me ... to edit).

Art Crawl!!!

I updated my iphone (4S) to the latest i0S on Friday. Everything seemed fine until Monday when suddenly everytime I tried to access my podcasts I'd get the "updating library" message. It would grind along for a while "updating" and then I'd get kicked out of the app.

I cannot uninstall/reinstall the app (this is a "feature" of the new ios) -- what can I do?

Hey. New board.

That Tablo looks pretty nice! I used to want an OTA DVR, and there was nothing affordable, decent, and easy out there, and I eventually realized I wouldn't use it anyway (Hulu Plus has basically everything I ever want barring CBS shows, and for those I can survive with the website). Still, that looks WAY better than anything I saw back when researching it.
