"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Shouldn't have been. If it was, it won't get to me; the United states postal service refuses to deliver to me.

Intel's Awesome NUC PC Starter Kits Are On Sale Today

If you're looking for a super-compact PC with an abundance of power, but don't want to build it all from scratch, Intel's Next Unit of Computing boxes might be just what you're looking for. Today on Amazon, the Intel Core i3 and Core i5 models are marked down to some of their lowest prices ever.P

The i3 NUC is only $266 today, and the i5 model is selling for $330, or about $50 off the typical asking price.

...

The kits come complete with motherboard, case, processor, and Wi-Fi antennas, but you'll have to add a mSATA SSD, power cord, wireless card (unless you're going to use strictly ethernet exclusively), RAM, and your input devices. Still, once you've built out your machine, you'll have a fully-functioning Intel PC with a 4" x 4" footprint.

I totally want a a fully-functioning Intel PC with a 4" x 4" footprint. I just can't think what I'd use it for.

All is well that ends in pizza.

So, you have to add a SSD, a Wifi card, RAM and all peripherals, huh?

Hmmm.

FINALLY got the shipment notice so I guess I'll get it tomorrow. Thankgoodness I stumped up for the overnight shipping or I wouldn't see it until next week. Oh well, tomorrow still lets me take the old one to the recycler when I go on Saturday.

Oooh, I checked my tracking info and that caused the fedex truck to pull up in front of my door!

Man, I always forget how long these setups take. Now admittedly I did dismantle my entire media closet and rearranged all my routers, installed my new UPS, and reset my RAID array in order to accommodate the new (much larger) printer. But it looks pretty slick so far. Next up to get it to acknowledge that I have envelopes in drawer one and paper in drawer two (oh, sweet time-saver how I love thee) and to try out the photo paper prints. Which involves going through the whole driver rigamarole over on the mac.

Well, that side was super easy. Printed photos look great.

Only downside I can see so far is that paper capacity for the trays is 250 each. I read "paper capacity 500 sheets" as being each tray, not both together. So I can't load a full ream at a time. But that's obviously not a big deal. I think we're rolling! Tomorrow I'll haul the old one off to electronics recycling and be done with it.

Anyone install the new iOS update yet? My boss did yesterday on his iPhone 5 and it failed, forcing him to restore from backup.

Art Crawl!!!

I just updated my iphone - but the update has been on my settings for ages.

I had to delete all my most used apps in order to have enough space on my phone (4S) to update. But now I've reinstated those apps and so far the phone is working.
