Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Ugh. My utorrent stopped working and I'm not sure why. Basically, every torrent I opened hangs at finding peers 0.0%. I did try various antivirus programs today (I had avast before, Ad-Aware for a couple of hours and decided I didn't like it, and eventually DL'd Avira) but my utorrent is supposed to be on the exception list from firewall, which I confirm. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling utorrent -- no dice. I finally went and deleted Avira since in most cases, it's the internet security program that messes with downloading... that didn't work either. I did perform some clean up work on my computer earlier today -- went and deleted an old version of Java (FX something), unclicked a bunch of stuff from my startup program list because the system seemed slow, but I don't think those would have effect on utorrent?

All is well that ends in pizza.

Note from one of the trackers out there:

uTorrent 3.4.1 blocked
Version 3.4.1 of uTorrent is blocked due to a bug that causes credits to be withdrawn when seeding.
The preferred version is 2.2.1 which can be found here: uTorrent 2.2.1 >[link]

If you still want to use uTorrent 3.x, you may have an earlier version in "%APPDATA%uTorrentupdates". Paste that into the address in explorer (no quotes) then click the version you want to revert to. You probably want to turn off automatic updates, too.

We've tried to report issues to the uTorrent developers in the past but they deny a problem exists and blame it on the tracker. We'll just wait for the next release and see if the problem is fixed. Then they don't have to worry about admitting to a problem, taking any blame or giving any credit.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Great, thanks so much, Daniel. I downloaded the older version and presto, the issue is fixed. And hat-tip to the tracker you cited for a quality burn in that last sentence! Heh.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I had enough trouble with utorrent in the last six months that I just gave up, and switched to Transmission. I don't like the UI as much, but it works fine.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I've been a Vuse devotee for a long time. I just wish I could get the RSS plugin working.

Right now, I usually find torrents on a different machine from where Vuse is running. Vuse monitors the dropbox folder where I dump them, and as long as that PC is running, I can trigger from wherever. This would be much more useful if WakeOnLAN worked, but as it, works well enough.

I just don't know what to do with that process with magnets...

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I had also posted the issue on utorrent forum and they got back to me with "tell your tracker admins to report the bug". Hahaha! Priceless.

I am a creature of habit and I have been using utorrent for something like 7 years. I'll stick with it a little longer but if it gives me grief again, I'll be looking around for an alternative.

Hey. New board.

I use transmission running directly on my router saving onto the USB drive hooked into it. Works great. But I don't torrent very much anymore.

OK, is this a weird b.org thing or my computer thing? Suddenly every time I open a page here, the post I typed (and posted) last night in Natter shows up already typed in the box down here. WTF?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That's your browser probably saving the last thing you typed in that field to save you retyping. Is there a javascript way to talk to the browser and tell it not to?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

meara, I'm seeing it too, only since last night and only on b.org. It's not the usual saved form field behavior, because it's always the same post, not the last one.

(Also, for me, it's a post from the discussion of horrible dog killings so disturbing on top of being weird browser behavior!)
