Gavin, ask yourself this question. What are you more afraid of, a giant murderous demon or me?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My PowerBook won't, well, power on.

If I pop out the battery, plug it into the wall and hit the power button I hear a hard drive whir, it plays a chord, and then is silent.

I must be overlooking something painfully obvious, right? But what?

Hey. New board.

It seems stupid, but is it possible for some reason it's defaulting to the screen being all the way down in contrast?

If it's really chording and then not powering on (as in, capslock button doesn't light up or anything) then... no, you're probably not missing something painfully obvious. Something bad is happening. I'm not sure how Macs deal with dead hard drives - never really experienced one, despite many other problems - but it might be worth trying to boot from some sort of bootable CD, if you've got one.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I left it alone for an hour, and now it's working again.

I don't have the energy to work out why, but thanks for giving it a shot.

Hey. New board.

No problem. Can't sleep. And the leave-it-alone-an-hour is my favorite way to fix things.

Sadly, it has not fixed the "q" key on my laptop since I spilled water on it. Or the CTRL key. Any suggestions on curing obnoxious keyboard stoppages? Anybody? Bueller?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I hate Cafe Press. Would anyone be able recommend an alternative?

I haven't used it myself, but people seem to like Zazzle.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I totally don't need this, but this is the awesomest CD player evah: [link]

Tiny enough to fit in your pocket.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If you could rip with that thing, it'd be a huge explosion of cool.

What's wrong with Cafepress? Not that I know much about alternatives, just that knowing what's wrong can help with better suggestions.

Now I need to work out how to google that SIM thing and get useful results.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

What I don't like about Cafe Press is that it took them three tries to get my order right. I have heard similar things from others. Also I'm told they don't have girlie t-s in black.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

All right, asking here because I don't know who to ask short of taking my ahemmed -filled laptop to the Geek Squad, but iTunes won't play the legally obtained eps on my HP Pavillion. The video keeps skipping and then iTunes encounters an error that says Windows encountered a problem and Windows does not know how to fix the problem, ta.

The help function is crappy, I can't figure out how to get in touch with anyone at Apple/iTunes, and I don't even know where to begin to look to see if the laptop is capable of playing iTunes video, which it should be, because video playing and editing was one of the sticking points when I bought it.

So, if anyone can either tell me how to get in touch with decent official support staff to address my problem, or where to look on my computer to know for sure that it is meeting the requirements of iTunes for playing video (RAM, processor, etc.) and if and how I can improve my laptop to meet those requirements.

I'm sorry for asking this here, but I can't even find where the heck actual support is for iTunes. I bought the damned eps, I wanna be able to play them! Who can I complain to?!!!
