I'm looking for a webcam, too. I want to use it as a sort of portable security camera, to monitor classes when they're in small rooms not visible from the main classroom. Any recommendations?

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
How do I figure out what high-speed providers (cable or DSL) are available to me? As far as I can tell, the best method involves randomly going to providers' sites, entering my phone or address, and seeing if they offer service in my area. Is there no sort of clearinghouse for this thing?
Also, is Earthlink the devil?
Does your city or town government have an information line? If you're lucky, they may have some info.
Heh. The little ISP map icon on the right side of that page is pointing right at the park where my brothers and I used to play when we were kids. It's sort of amusing to think that a forest with some decaying replica log cabins in it is an internet hotspot.
My current webcam is an iSight but Apple doesn't appear to be selling them any more now that they are building them into iMacs and Macbooks.
Thanks for the broadband advice, Tom and Jon.
Yeah, I have an iSight attached to my Powerbook. It's decent, I guess. Doesn't do anything special, but it works. I've had no problems with the mike, either.
I'll urge my parents not to splurge, or anything.
This is ridiculous, but is there a way to force my browser to show the different website icons in the address bar? (Does that even make sense?)
Yes, on some. Maybe.
What browser are you using?
