Works for Win8 too, I can report. Might even make the OS tolerable!

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
That is so very cool! Thanks, JonB!
If I pay for an HD download of a movie from Amazon, what format is it in? Is it DRMed, or can it be played on any device?
It is DRMed as all digital movies currently are. You can play it on lots of devices, but Amazon has never released a video app for Android other than the Kindle Fire devices, presumably to try to get you to buy those. For this reason, I now use Vudu for all digital purchasing as I have never encountered a device it can't play on. If you don't use Android, though, Amazon is on almost everything else and has a simple interface and high quality.
So you need to use a proprietary app to play Amazon downloads?
Yes. And every other legal digital download option. The studios are still fighting that battle.
Argh! I tried to upgrade the memory in my Mac Mini since that's supposed to be so easy now and the last update to the OS practically made it necessary and now it appears one memory slot is fucked.
Not really looking for advice, booked a reservation with the Genius Bar, I'm just mad and wanted to vent.
For a couple minutes at lunch, I got to play with Google Glass. It's neat. Not sure if it's $1,500 neat. But, it is still in beta testing.
Can it serve as a screen replacment? Could you use GG on a regular computer instead of a monitor. (Not asking if has that capability now. Asking if the amount of information you can get at one time is equivalent to a single "monitor full". Also if the subjective resolution is as good as a monitor.) That is does it feel like if the drivers and wireless connection was there to let it try to replace a monitor, that it could replace a monitor?
My laptop is in boot up purgatory, can't quite get to the login screen. If I get a new laptop, can I transfer from the old one with it in this state?
