Does tech stuff like this even sell?
Dunno. Maybe someone could turn then into small office print and file servers?

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

I'm using a G5 right now!
Before I lost my job, I was considering helping my cousin Steve buy one for $75 on Craigslist to upgrade from his old G4.
I've seen them prices higher and lower.
Check out everymac.com for current market value, then undercut that price on Craigslist. See if you get any bites.
You might have to give the monitor to a recycling house.
be sure to thoroughly clean off any data that might on there. My mother bought a used laptop once and we found addresses and meeting notes on there.
Unless you have incredibly sensitive data, reinstalling OSX and telling it to repartition and reformat should be enough.
Okay. I have a couple of days before the e-cycling. I'll post a craigslist ad this evening and see if I get any bites.
And, msbelle...so THAT. The mini I'm coming to you on now had a bunch of private information on it, even though the family thought they'd cleaned it.
One of the towers isn't booting, so that one may have to go unclean, but the other has been stripped already.
When I can't get a computer to boot to reformat before recycling I'll often just pull the drive out and snip the connection between the drive controller board and the drive before recycling the parts separately.
You may get a little money out of the G5 towers but there just isn't a lot of value left in them any more. They can't run anything approaching a recent OS and recent software won't run on them.
I wouldn't expect more than $75 out of them.
I'm leaning in the direction of just letting them go. The friend who is taking me to the recycling event is strong and willing to carry them off...they are quite heavy!
Rob, that is a terrific idea, thank you! I can totally snip the wires.
I need a new TV, but it looks like I'm going to wait until the fall to get one.
The Roku is definitely a much better interface than my Samsung Smart TV.
