Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I wonder what the possibility I could get my old .mac ID back if I sign up for a free trial account? It's been a couple of years, almost.
I seem to remember that if you quit your account, they offered a forwarding service for free, which would seem to indicate the addy was still available. Try calling rather than signing up on line. Dunno if they'd give you the free month.
New stuff from Apple today!
We have a Windows 2000 server that died. It has a 3-disk SCSI RAID array that's set up in Windows (i.e. software controlled). Is it possible to pull the three RAID drives and stick them in an identical server and get Windows to recognize the array?
What I've heard about RAID arrays is that it actually depends on the motherboard. If you stick it in a machine with a different type of motherboard, they may not work.
You may also have to dink with the BIOS settings to get it to recognize an array.

New glossy aluminum iMacs!
Holy shit, they replaced iMovie.
I'm not following the live thingie (am at lunch) but I want to know if there's new iPods....
Not yet, but it's still happening.
Holy shit, they replaced iMovie.
About damn time, too. Though from the description in that blog I can't tell if they've replaced it with something better or worse.
