Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I just bought a Pebble! Hooray for birthday money!
I think I may turn off email notifications, unless there's a way to filter by Gmail Priority Inbox settings. The SMS and phone call notification features are way cool. I haven't started to explore what else it can do.
Does anyone *cough*Amy*cough* know if a Wordpress blog can be set up to be entirely private--only registered members can see anything.
Gud, yes -- on WordPress.com, it's in your settings. If you host your own, I like this plugin: [link]
Thanks. I didn't see anything on my self-hosted blog, but WordPress.com would work fine for the new private blog.
ita, for a new handwriting keyboard try Myscript Stylus Beta. It has a good interface at least. Doesn't seem quite as accurate out of the box as the built in but it is a fast learner. You can scroll back to previous words directly on the keyboard to do corrections. Pretty cool idea.
Ooh, thanks Gris. Will have a look.
I wonder if there was a particular hurdle why it took so long for another to come to market.
I am writing this post with Myscript.Printed this sentence and the last one.Now trying my terrible cursive with pretty decent results. Definitely better in landscape on a phone.
I just found I already had it! I had installed everything with stylus and script in the title without checking to see what they did, and I hadn't gotten to most of them yet. Including that. It's now switched to default.
Honestly, Lecture Notes is doing a really good job--if I could work out how to refresh-update Evernote and One Note, I'd be in my happy place. But I really should check...Touchnote, Moleskine (Evernote interaction, eh?), My Real Font, Calculator (PICKY, goddamnit), and some other stuff.
Do you ever find yourself poking at your MacBook Pro screen wondering why nothing is happening? I don't feel as stupid as I should when that happens, all told. At least I should be able to scroll the screen without moving my hands soooooooo faaaaaaaaaaaar from the screen itself.

Ha! Yes. Especially when I'm working on both screens on a project.
Okay, here are two things I don't like about MyScript beta: It doesn't have a keyboard mode--which means that when the pen is still inserted, it's prompting me to write and it still prompts me to write in my passwords.
I don't even like that iOS show capitals on its keyboard for passwords when it's typing lower case--I'm a little bit OCD about that being absolute--the Samsung keyboard switching over and Swype not swiping anymore are the behaviour I strongly prefer.
I'm assuming MyScript isn't in the typing business, but it's still a big hole for me.
