Let me know if I should ask this in fanfic...
Does anyone know how to put podfic on my iphone? I don't know how to sync with itunes because I am always afraid I will somehow destroy my whole music library (or is it in the cloud now?). Some podfics I can stream. The ones I download directly to the iphone have to be unzipped (I use iZip). Once I unzip them I can listen to them in iZip, but I can't fast forward or go back. It seems to open a limited version of quicktime that has no controls.
If I have left a shared folder on Dropbox but forgot to unclick the button for keeping a copy of the files, can I delete the folder without it affecting the shared one for everyone else?
If you have already left, I think should be fine.
I'm trying it. If someone yells I'll know it didn't work!
Anyone looking at the Roamio? Weaknees informed me that my S3 power supply was on an unpredictable clock--they showed me the two blown capacitors (I, uh, didn't know they were doing that with capacitors--the pop tops like jars of food that go bad) and said the whole supply could go tomorrow or in three years, FMI.
They also said that the external hard drive that I'd just gotten to replace the busted one could be repurposed with S4 or S5, so enh. The real deal is the lifetime service. I'm still on my first, so...
I don't need to record six shows at once ever, but they do look sweet.
The Roamio looks sweet, but only if they let me transfer my lifetime service. Plus I just spent $250 at Weaknees repairing my S3. (And now that I've spent time with my cable company DVR, I'm not honestly sure I want to go back to Tivo! The interface sucks, but the picture quality beats Tivo's by a mile. I don't know exactly how compressed Tivo's "best" quality is, but it's visibly much worse than what I'm getting out of my cable box.)
only if they let me transfer my lifetime service
Judging from the tone the last times I asked, I'd be surprised. They don't seem to be in that desperate conciliatory position they were in last time I transferred. Or their "lifetime of the device, ma'am" gameface is much more solid.
If the rest of the capacitors on my S3 power supply go, I'll think hard about it. Since my car's coolant system is leaking, DON'T HAPPEN SOON, HARDISON, HEAR ME???
HBO HD is similar enough to my external media that I don't have any issue with image quality. Maybe it could be like Retina, but it's currently really pretty! I'm fine.
Yeah, I've been thinking that much as I love my TiVo (and I've had one since 2001 or 2002, old school), when (hopefully not soon!) my current one gives up the ghost I will probably not buy a new one. I feel like the cable company DVR is probably good enough, generally.
I am mainly using my TiVo to transfer downloaded files from my computer to my TV wirelessly. But since there was an issue with dates back in Feb, it hasn't been consistent letting me actually see what's on my HD. It's very frustrating. I need to research other options.
I've been pretty happy with the combo of my TiVo and the NAS streaming to my TV and tablets. But the reviews of the Roamio have got me all fired up again, almost as much when I first got one (although nothing can revolutionise TV as much as that again...yet). I don't stream as much as I could to take advantage of it, but if they've improved the Netflix app, YES.
