Hey. New board.

I think art is the killer feature and not my zone. But Lecture Notes is pretty super powerful - kind of OneNote like without any syncing capability but you can export pages to Evernote as images or PDFs. It isn't very fast - S Note or Papyrus are quicker to load - but with a feature set to die for.

EZ Pdf viewer pro has decent pdf annotation tools with some pressure sensitivity. There isn't anything in the space as good as Bluebeam Pdf Revu on Windows, but that costs $100 so. EZ Pdf Viewer is better than anything I have found for tablet PCs at the price point so I actually grade papers with it all the time. You can import PDFs into Lecture Notes but if you want to annotate the PDF directly then EZ is your best bet.

Can anyone offer an opinion about Roku 2 XD vs Roku 3? I have no great desire to play Angry Birds on my television, but the headphone jack on the remote is a pretty nifty feature.

I have a couple of Roku 3's and they are great. The headphone jack is pretty cool, but I've only used it a couple of times. If commonly watch TV by yourself while not wanting to disturbing anyone else, it's a killer feature.

I don't know much about the Roku 2 XD, but I can say the user interface on the 3 is much faster than any other streaming device I've used. It might have a leg up on the 2 XD in terms of processing power.

This would be for a bedroom TV (we're getting a GINORMOUS one for the living room and moving our previously-considered-ginormous older set into the bedroom) so yeah, the headphone jack would come in really handy.

Right now my thinking is that compared to what we're about to spend on the television itself, $30 for a slightly higher-end Roku won't break the bank. t /rationalizing

From my experience, you won't be disappointed. I don't know if the UI for other channels is as good as the one for Amazon Prime, but it blows away the other streamers I've used. The UI for streaming from our Synology NAS is also quite good, but that's done by Synology rather than Roku.

Jessica,

I love my Roku! I don't use the headphone jack often, but note: when I did use it, the batteries in the remote ran down kind of quickly. I have (3) Rokus I think. Each and upgrade because of a feature I needed in the Roku. I got the 3 because I needed the HD and the new menus are the BOMB.

brillig

I'm wanting a tablet for reading ebooks as my old faithful Palm's screen is just getting too small for my agining eyes. I'd rather not get a Kindle, so I'm looking for something that could handle basic text, or epubs if that format is supportable on a non-dedicated ereader. Net access is not a priority, I just want something a little bigger than the Palm for reading, and the file management on ereaders is annoying.

I'm assuming it takes regular AAs, which I can just recharge, though, right? As long as I can get through a whole movie on one set of batteries I think I'm good.

Hey. New board.

I have a Roku 2and it is great. I feel zero need to upgrade and expect the interface is basically identical to the Roku 3 - it is upgraded regularly. But the remote feature is cool if you will use it.

I think my Roku 2 didn't have the interface upgrade. when I got the Roku 3. There was something I couldn't do that I really wanted to do - and it wasn't remote audio.
