I think he's saying that if my new (and only one ever) iPad is defective, the apps I've managed to download would be backed up, so if I got one that's good, I could restore them.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I hadn't thought you'd managed to get that much on it. Congrats!
I find Safari a pretty unusable browser. I tend to keep two or three open, but three times as many windows open in Opera. Opera has its issues, but Safari just told me it had to reload all 9 open windows because I backed up in my browser history on one of them, and well--not "just". It's been going for more than five minutes right now and all the windows are blank. It could never be my primary browser just based on the request to reload, but NOTHING IS HAPPENING.
The power cord for my (Dell) laptop is not working properly - can I just buy any computer power cord or does it have to be specific to this particular model of laptop?
What model Dell?
My Targus travel charger has worked out well for me, and it came with a variety of adapter tips, but I've only ever used it on Toshibas and Lenovos.
Targus's web site has a compatibility search tool: [link]
It's a studio 15(hundred and something) - I don't have it with me and cannot recall the model number.
Sumi, most aftermarket power cords will say whether they are compatible with your model. My experience with Dell cords is that they are expensive and likely to break. Aftermarket cords are cheaper and sometimes total duds. I went through over a dozen dell replacement cords in two years. Keep your receipts.
So, I'm wanting to get DW something special for Mother's Day since she's been so friggin' awesome during my pregnancy (and she's the best mom evah!). I was thinking an iPad, but she had mentioned a laptop since we are moving our computers into the bedroom, where they'll be inaccessible when kids go to sleep. She does stuff like upload photos, just bought Lightroom, and does a lot of work in Google Docs for Shane's school. I'd like to keep the cost at $500 or less. Any suggestions?
Well, I've made an appointment with an Apple "genius" to see if the iPad mini is defective or if I somehow screwed it up. Wish me luck!
Good luck, Todd!
I have spreadsheet A which needs to be converted into CSV file B
The column headers on A and B are similar, but not identical (i.e. A says "ClientName" and B has "Client Name") and they are ordered differently.
I want to convert A to B with the least amount of stress and preferably no copy-pasting. Does Excel do this kind of field-mapping, and if so, how? Is this what a pivot table is for?
Nevermind, misunderstanding between ops and developers.
