"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, it's not just in my brane then. I'm okay with it, since I don't have any other options, but I'm coming up on the windy season, and I should make plans accordingly knowing it's going to be frustrating.

On a vaguely tech-y note: Anyone know how many computers you can log in to a NYTimes subscription with? My google-fu is failing me. I know Netflix has a limit, but oddly, can't find anything in the FAQ about NYTimes. Or possibly my eyes are skipping right over it or something.

Not really critical. With NY Times if you your ten article limit, just edit the URL to elimate the question mark and everything after it, and you not only have access to that article but to ten more. This has been out there since the paywall went up, so at this point I'm assuming the times is leaving that back door in deliberately cause I'd expect it to be an easy one to fix.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I thought they closed that loophole earlier this month?

meara,

not sure why you are asking, but if someone is trying to access an article and they encounter a paywall, if you use chrome, you can browse the article using an incognito window and you should be okay for a few more hits.

Nah, I was wondering more along the lines of "I'm willing to pay for a subscription, and my roommate shares her netflix login with me, but if like netflix there's a device limit, I want to know before I let her have my login..."

Did they? Well if they closed it this month, they sure let it run a long time.

From what they say, using a different browser still works. But if they closed one loophole they will close the others one by one. I'd guess multiple browsers next, clearing cookies last. Close the loophole that is the least pain-in-the-ass to the user first, then the next, then most painful.

information libertarian

I use a javascript blocker (noscript) and it is still working to let me read the Times. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I can't read comments on articles, and sometimes multimedia pieces do not work.

Yeah, I finally decided I really read enoug articles that I should just pay for it.
