"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I can use RAID 5 with only three drives, right?

It's funny because I just bought the extra one, but it's pretty clear that my storage needs are about to expand pretty exponentially.

I'm now thinking about using the 3TB as a normal standalone, and changing out my NAS entirely.

I'm going to say something that has probably been said many times before.

itunes has totally screwed me and I have no idea how to redeem this situation.

No matter how many how too guides I read, I cannot seem to fix the fact that itunes 11 swallowed hundreds of songs and now won't let me add the few I have left to my iphone/touch.

I'm so pissed, I could scream.

I have two previous itunes library back ups but I can't get either one of them onto the phone. What the everloving WHAT.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

You're not using iTunes Match, are you?

No, tommy. I don't even know what that is.

following up to say, I've never seen that before. I don't even know how to use the cloud.

I got along fine with itunes before. Why do they have to screw with what works and not give you the option to opt out?

I guess I could look at this as a fresh start, but that means I will have to spend untold hours trying to recreate something in a tool I don't even trust.

GOD I'm annoyed.

I downloaded senuti but, while it sees the music, all titles are greyed out and won't transfer to the iphone.

Does anyone have any idea why the iphone seems to be closed to me?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

When you say it swallowed your music, are the files deleted?

Yep. Deleted files.

I could not sync the phone manually, for some reason, so I hit the auto sync and instead of updating the phone with what is left of my itunes material, it erased the phone.

Did it delete the files on the computer?

Even though I'm very partial to ratings and playlists, sometimes you just have to nuke the site from orbit (that's the only way to be sure)--I back up the songs, uninstall and re-install iTunes, and then import them again and start scratchlike.

What logic does Windows 7 use to pick drive letters for USB drives? I thought my USB was tits up (still need to look up that etymology) because I couldn't see anything different in Explorer when I insterted them, but it assigned them drives I'd previously mapped to network shares. They didn't reconnect at logon, so I'm hoping that's the only reason they used those letters, but the share drive information still displayed, not the name of the USB drive. At the very least, shouldn't it fucking tell me somehow? Well, gotta force everything to connect on logon, at least.

That's what I need to do ita 1, much as I'd rather not spend the time.

Ah well.
