Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yeah, the name Javascript was just some marketing decision that has caused much confusion over the years.

This applies if you have manually installed Java 7 on OS X, as Java no longer ships with OS X.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

If you use Collaborate (formerly Elluminate) for online conferencing you use Java. Alas. Blackboard (which owns Collaborate) might use Java for other stuff, too.

I'm in trouble. My monitor keeps cutting in and out and I'm not sure which is in more trouble...my damaged mini or the monitor itself.

I'm trying to back up my email...Thunderbird...and seem to have a head made of brick.

Every article I see says to go to home/library/thunderbird/profiles and drag that folder to my flash drive.

EXCEPT, I can't find that folder in the library directory.

I'm running OS 10.8.2 and Thunderbird 17.0.

Can anyone help me before I go dark?

When you say "home" do you mean the drive root? 'Cuz there should be application stuff there.

I used to have a Library in my user directory as well. Dunno what happened to it.

I'm assuming that it is 'devices' folder.

It's maddening, because fairly recent articles all say the same thing, but I can't find the damn Thunderbird profiles.

I've looked in all the application folders, no luck there either.

Ack!

Bonny,

In 10.8.2 they hide the Library.

Bless you, l_n!!

It seems odd to say that I'm okay with my system failing now, but I feel a whole lot better about it.

Thank you so much for the save. I was so frantic, I could not see straight and didn't even think to go to the dummies site. It seems apropos, after all.

Cheers.

well, thing is, the hiding of the Library is new so why would you have thought anything other than your system was wonky.
