Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I actually own CS2, but I haven't been able to get it to work well since I moved from Tiger to Snow Leopard. So all the hubbub about getting it free reminds me to ask: any ideas about whether it's even possible to get the darn thing to run on Mac OS 10.6.8?
According to various comments at the site that was touting the free download, you need to use a MacOs that can run the powerpc emulator Rosetta. Snow Leopard has this, but it doesn't install by default. Rosetta is neither included nor supported in Mac OS X v10.7 "Lion" or later.
Thanks for the advice!
As to a "firewall" I was mostly concerned with security issues for things like buying an app using WiFi.
You can only buy apps from the one place for an iPad, and that's got some serious lockdown.
ah .. a whole new world for me to explore. Thanks!
Thanks Jon! Back to the Googles for me...
toddson,
the app store on your ipad mini will be the only place you can buy apps. you can also buy them if you use itunes on your computer, but it will probably be easier to just buy them on your ipad.
sophia,
I have no idea what to do about exchange and delegates. no idea.
I have a continuing problem with iPhone and calendar synch that I cannot find help for. I am synching my outlook exchange calendar.
By chance, are you running iOS 6.0.1? iOS 6 in general is having problems with calendar. I upgraded my iPad but not iPhone. If I enter an event on the iPad, it doesn't show up on iPhone or computer iCal. If I enter an event on the other two, it doesn't show up on the iPad. I can hit refresh all I want, and it's still like that. There are other flavors of issues with iOS 6 calendar, and I seem to recall hearing ones similiar to yours. I did a google search for "ios 6 calendar problems" and got plenty of hits.
My understanding is iOS 6.1 will be coming out soon. Hopefully they have fixed the calendar problems.
I am still running iOs 5-- I didn't install the update because I had heard it would effect the google maps/bus schedule thing, and I use that all the time.
I seem to have fixed it (in that now I am not receiving my bosses invitations in the calendar, just as an email which I cannot respond to), by switching from push notifications to checking every 15 minutes. It isn't ideal, because it means I can't manage my bosses' calendars via iphone, but at least it seems to mean that I can manage my own!
Sophia, you know google maps has an app now, right? All functionality returned if you use that app.
Oh great! Maybe I will upgrade-- although I hope it won't break the thing that is fixing my calendar!
