And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

On a computer, or a phone, or in a Chrome browser, or what?

In the browser. In Gmail, Calendar and Reader (the three Google tabs I have open now) there's a black bar at the top of the screen with links to other Google services. Some of them I'll never use, and Reader is stuck in a "More" dropdown.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Thanks for trying, Rob. I think something like this happened before and cleared up when something outside my control changed ro updated or something. So I'll hope that happens again.

My other computers are not cooperating (one won't find the internet, the other won't even boot. I haven't turned either on in a while, those are not surprising results), but I fired up Parallels and tried Chrome in emulated XP and that was no better.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

...a black bar at the top of the screen with links to other Google services.

Sorry, all I've been able to learn is that it is called the "Google bar." [link]

Haven't found any way to customize or configure it.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I would like my phone to do that stuff too, ita !, but I don't know of anything in the market that does it neatly. I haven't really put much energy into looking, though.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Announcify does some of it, but I couldn't get it to work at all on my Transformer. It's what announces callers on my phone, though.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Is there a way to customize the Google services that appear in the top bar thingy?

Apparently (I haven't tried it), there's a Chrome extension:

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Scratch that. This one -- [link] -- is also Chrome only, but it works great! You just drag & drop!

Since my Smart TV has built-in wifi, is there a simple way to make it an external monitor, or would I still need to attach a cable or adapter? This is to use it as a second screen for working on documents, so I'd rather not use a cable.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So I hear people saying that unless you use Windows 8 on a touchscreen device like this: [link] it's a bit of a bust. Is it possible that they're all just not configuring it right?
